Mariner Square Athletic Club - Best Athletic Club in The Bay Area - by Jimaii Design SAFETY PROTOCOLS

Your health is our top priority and in accordance with governmental orders and guidelines, we are pleased to announce a carefully planned, phased approach to reopening Mariner Square Athletic Club.

We continue to follow stringent sanitation protocols for proper disinfection, operation and maintenance, as well as adding additional procedures to achieve a new level of cleanliness.

Clean Air & Spaces

  • Electrostatic Sprayer is used to clean all cardio equipment and our Safe & Separate Fit Suites
  • Continuous Air Flow with NEW MERV 13 Filters
  • Sneeze guards installed throughout the club
  • Air purifiers in membership and manager offices
  • Dedicated cleaning staff attending to locker rooms and equipment throughout the day.

Deep Cleans

  • Continuous scheduled disinfection of high-touch surfaces throughout the club
  • Showers and Restrooms sprayed with Chlorine sanitizer
  • Equipment and Fit Suite availability adjusted to allow for frequent, thorough cleaning

Enhanced Procedures

  • Utilizing hospital-grade disinfectant that kills the coronavirus
  • Each member gets sanitizer and a cleaning towel upon check in to sanitize their own equipment
  • Locker rooms have a max occupancy for safety, obtain pass at front desk to enter

The club has been completely reconfigured to accommodate and encourage social distancing. This practice is required throughout all areas of the facility for your safety and as mandated by the county. You will notice floor markers, wall signs, sneeze guards etc. in place to remind and allow everyone to maintain 6 feet of distance between themselves and others. Cardio and weight machines have been moved and/or marked accordingly. All available cardio and weight pieces are at least 10 feet apart in the common areas.

We appreciate your cooperation and care in practicing social distancing as well as wearing your mask, while inside the club.

Equipment Spacing and Availability

  • MSAC has deployed a  system to allow for social distancing in all areas of the club, except for those areas with adequate spacing of equipment.
  • You will likely notice some of the cardio equipment will be turned off / marked unavailable to allow for social distancing
  • Studio 3 has been converted to an additional overflow cardio space with several spaces available.

When Group Fitness Class Sizes Start

  • We hope to bring Group fitness classes back as county mandates allow. Classes will require reservations. Class sizes will be greatly reduced to ensure social distancing. We are currently working on outfitting our largest Studio 1 for constant air flow by replacing some windows so they are functional as well as directing the inside air, out with an industrial fan near the door to the outside.

We are dedicated to the health and safety of our entire community, including our team members. In addition to adapting to the environment in which they work to help ensure adequate spacing, team members will be required to wear masks and required to perform temperature checks prior to each shift consistent with government guidelines. Team members will operate behind sneeze guards to limit face to face contact.

As we navigate through the reopening of our club, there will be some new things to expect during each phase. Amenities and classes will vary and be consistent with governmental orders and guidelines. We appreciate your help and understanding as we work through this time together.

Prior to arrival at MSAC you should perform a self-symptom assessment, which should include the following questions:

Do you have any of the following symptoms?

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

Has anyone in your family / household, or anyone you have come in contact with in the last 14 days, experienced the symptoms above or tested positive for COVID-19?

Have you traveled outside of the area in the last 14 days?

If you answer yes to any of the above questions, we appreciate if you refrain from using the facility. If you answer no, you may proceed to our new touchless check-in where your temperature will be taken.

With COVID-19 cases on the rise, let’s be sure we are all doing our part to keep our club and our families as safe as possible, like wearing our mask when required, disinfecting and sanitizing equipment, washing our hands. We want to thank our members who have committed to following these protocols. Let’s stay safe so that we may stay open.

Please bring a mask or face covering with you to the club and wear it when:

  • Entering and exiting the club, or in common areas
  • You are interacting with other people
  • Moving around the club, or moving from one exercise to the next
  • Exercise type and intensity allows for the wearing of a face covering
  • Performing low-intensity exercise ie. walking, stretching, yoga, Pilates, or similar exercises
  • Physical distancing is difficult and you cannot ensure 6 ft. of social distancing

Masks will not be provided by MSAC . Masks are available for purchase at the front desk for $2 while supplies last. Your mask should cover both your mouth and nostrils, and can be either of the following:

  • Fabric (washable) mask
  • Paper (disposable) mask

If you do not wear your mask while moving around the club, you may be asked to leave.

Bandana or Gator style masks are not acceptable.

Restrooms and sinks are available, lockers and showers will open when allowed and will be consistent with governmental orders and guidelines. Steams, saunas and spas remained closed until we may safely operate them as well.

The health and safety of our members and team members is what’s most important. As we reopen, you will play an important role in making your club a safe experience for us all.

By following the advice on this page, you can help support a safe, phased reopening of our club. Together we can do our part to help limit the spread of COVID-19, especially to those who are more vulnerable due to age, compromised immunity or pre-existing conditions.

What You Can Do:

Maintain 6 feet of distance from others.

Wash or sanitize your hands upon entering and leaving the club.

You must be responsible for your health and safety. This is why we recommend that you clean the equipment with sanitizing spray before and after each use. It’s best to assume the person who used it previously did not clean it. Protect yourself, clean your equipment. Here’s how:
  • Spray cleaning towel with sanitizer.
  • Wipe down equipment.
  • Allow it to air dry for 60 seconds.
While we hope that our members continue to follow the Golden Rule, treat others as you would like others to treat you, ultimately, we ask you to please be responsible for our own health and safety.

Bring your own water bottle or you can purchase one from the courtesy desk. Water fountains refill stations remain out of operation until further notice

If you are vulnerable or at-risk for COVID-19 as identified by the CDC—including those who are over the age of 65 or those who have chronic medical conditions—please take extra precaution and follow CDC guidelines.

Cover coughs and sneezes. Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze or use the inside of your elbow. Throw your tissue away immediately.
